I am an experienced professional with a legal and communication background. I count nearly two decades of experience in training and development, engaging with some of the top state, private and multinational organizations. Fusing critical thinking of a legal professional with the persuasive flair of a journalist, I empower people from diverse disciplines and industries to communicate with confidence, clarity and impact.

My experience as a university lecturer in English and Journalism, has further strengthened my ability to mentor with empathy, bridging socio-cultural polarities.

My journalistic career spans nearly 25 years associated with esteemed national publications such as the Sunday Times, Sunday Island & Daily Financial Times. The might of influencing and convincing story-telling  has nurtured me to empower people with the right tools of effective communication to be heard and seen.

The wide-ranging journalistic canvas of mine covering socio-economic issues, business, law and policy, health and wellness, arts and culture, literature and religion, has enabled me to diversify my portfolio as a content strategist and a communication coach My consulting portfolio includes corporate profiling, content branding, curating publications and media advocacy.

My experience in interacting with people from all walks of life, ranging from top business leaders, law-makers, artists, diplomats, internationally acclaimed policy-makers to grassroot communities has forged my practical and discerning approach to communication.

I have rubbed shoulders with leaders across sectors who act out-of-the-box, swing board rooms, shape opinions, drive change and empower people. I’ve also rendered my voice to human struggles, rural ethos, unsung talent and causes that matter. This uniquely positions me to deliver innovatively across organizational levels and bring out the best in people.

My journalistic skills have been recognized over the years. The Editors’ Guild of Sri Lanka has awarded me the Best English Feature Writer of the Year on several occasions. I am also a three-time recipient of Excellence in Health Journalism award presented by the Sri Lanka Medical Association (SLMA) for my ‘outstanding contribution to health journalism in Sri Lanka’. I have also been honoured with Sri Lanka’s Top 50 Professional and Career Women Award for my contribution to print media.

As an editor, I have compiled and edited several publications including JUSTICE (official publication of the Ministry of Justice), Lankan Isle and Life & Work of Sybil Wettasinghe (to be published). I have also been commissioned by several international agencies to edit publications, research papers and online content.

I am a product of the University of Colombo where I gained my academic credentials in Journalism, English, and International Relations and Sri Lanka Law College where I obtained my professional qualification of Attorney-at-Law.

Fueled by the nuances of people and places, I’m constantly inspired to make a meaningful and innovative contribution to the world at large
